Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 package taco seasoning mix. It’s usually an ounce in weight
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese. You should shred it. The approximate weight should be around 4 ounces.
  • 2 cans crescent rolls. It should be around 8 ounces and it has 8 counts.
  • Chopped tomatoes taco sauce (or salsa), shredded lettuce, or sliced ripe olives – whichever you like.

Instructions

  • Heat up the oven up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Cook the beef in a nonstick skillet (preferably the 10-inch type) until it is not pink anymore.
  • Add the taco seasoning mix along with half cup of water.
  • Let it simmer for around 3 to 4 minutes. The texture should be thicker after 3 minutes.
  • Remove the beef from the skillet and transfer it to a medium bowl.
  • Add cheese to that beef and mix it well.
  • In the meantime, unroll both of the dough cans. Separate them into 16 different triangles.
  • By using a big cookie sheet (the ungreased one), arrange those triangles in a ring form. The short triangle sides should form a circle in the center (the 5 inch one). The dough should overlap, creating a sun-like form.
  • Spoon the beef mixture on each triangle half, which should be closest to the ring center
  • Bring up each of the dough triangle over the filling. Tuck the dough right under the dough’s bottom layer so you can secure it. Repeat the process around the ring. The whole filling should be enclosed. Don’t worry too much if some filling shows up a teeny weeny bit.
  • Bake for 20 minutes; 25 minutes top. Or bake until the dough turns golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for around 10 minutes. Cut it to serving slices.

Notes

Extra Tips
You can beat an egg and use it to brush the dough. It will create a glossy finish. Do this before baking the dough.
Taco style salad would be perfect when served together with the crescent ring. Mix together sliced radishes, avocado chunks, (halved) cherry tomatoes, and shredded Romaine lettuce. Then mix green (or red) spicy taco sauce with plain ranch dressing for the creamy dressing.
If you don’t like ground beef, replace it with ground chicken. It would be a chicken taco crescent ring.
You can also have salsa in case you want to dip this taco ring with crescent rolls into it.
