Ingredients

  • ½ pound of taco sauce approximately 8 oz.
  • 1 and ½ pounds of ground beef.
  • 1 packet of crescent roll
  • 1 pound of sour cream
  • 1 bag of shredded Mozzarella
  • 1 bag of mild cheddar cheese
  • 2 packages of taco seasoning
  • 2 bags of Doritos any flavor is fine but nacho cheese is best.
  • Your favorite extra toppings like sliced avocadoes or diced tomatoes.
  • 1 tube of non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  • Start by crushing the Doritos and transfer it to a large bowl. You can crush them until they are fine shards or still have some texture. Next, turn on your oven to 350oF.
  • While waiting for the oven, on a large skillet, cook your meat on medium-low heat until they are brown. Don’t forget to add the taco sauce and seasoning. Let it simmer for about five minutes before you turn off the heat and set it aside.
  • Get your 8 by 12-inch casserole pan, spray with the cooking spray, and start layering. Spread the rolls until they cover the bottom of the pan. Press and pat on the sides to ensure the rolls are even.
  • Pour ¾ of the smashed Doritos on top of the rolls and spread them evenly. Continue by adding the meat with taco seasoning. On top of the meat put the sour cream and both mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Don’t forget to spread them evenly before you add a new layer.
  • If your casserole pan is quite deep, you can add extra toppings such as thinly sliced avocadoes or diced tomatoes. Finish the layers by spreading the remaining Doritos as the top layer. Bake in the oven until you see Doritos started to dry and brown or for 25-30 minutes.
  • And that’s it! Now you get the delicious layered taco casserole with Doritos. You can serve them immediately or let them rest until it cools down. Everyone at the dinner table will love this dish.

Notes

Is it the same as Dorito Casserole?
Both recipes have the same ingredients, except for the crescent dough. You also may need to have more layers and make it similar to a lasagna. Swap the dough for more Doritos if you want to have the Doritos casserole.

As you can see, this crescent roll taco bake with Doritos is very easy to make. You can easily adjust the seasoning and topping based on your favorite flavors. But there is a reason why this recipe is also called a classic and popular party pleaser.
