Pecan Pie
The Pioneer Woman pecan pie may take an extra effort in the preparation and making, but it’s going to worth your time. And you will be completely satisfied with yourself because now you can make a super tasty pie on your own – without having to buy one.
Ingredients
- 1 whole unbaked pie crust
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter. It should be the salted type and it should be melted first
- ¾ teaspoon vanilla
- 3 whole eggs. Beat them
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
-
Prepare the pie crust
-
Preheat your oven up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
-
Beat the eggs in a separate bowl.
-
In another bowl, add in the white sugar, brown sugar, and salt
-
Measure a cup of corn syrup. Then add the syrup to the bowl having brown sugar, sugar, and salt.
-
Then add the melted butter.
-
Mix everything so it combines well.
-
Now, pour in the (beaten) eggs. Again, stir everything so everything combines well.
-
It’s time to add the ¼ teaspoon of the vanilla extract. Don’t overdo it, though, because it may affect the flavor
-
Mix everything again.
-
Pour the chopped pecans on the (unbaked) pie shell. Arrange those pecans so they should cover the bottom area of the pie shell.
-
Pour the egg/corn syrup mixture. Do it slowly so the chopped pecans don’t scatter around. Don’t worry about visual appeal because pecan pieces will start floating to the top area.
-
It’s time to bake the pie. Cover the top with a foil and then bake for around 30 minutes. You need to remove the foil and continue baking for around 20 minutes.
Notes
Make sure to always check it, especially the halfway through. If you see the outer pie crust turn brownish too quickly, wrap the foil surrounding the edge. Or you can keep the edges thick enough so they won’t turn brown too fast.
If the pie is a bit jiggly, that’s fine. But if it’s too jiggly, then you need to bake it a little longer. You can try baking it for 10 minutes or even 20 minutes, depending on your pie, really.
In most cases, this best pecan pie recipe needs 50 minutes to bake well, but in some cases, it can even take 75 minutes. That’s why you need to always monitor the pie.
Once you remove the pie, let it cool completely at room temperature. Although the pie can be served warm, it’s best to wait after it has been fully set. If you, you will be dealing with crumbles.
