- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 ½ pounds ground beef
- ½ large onion to cut into dice
- Kaiser rolls
- 1 whole large green bell pepper to cut into dice
- Butter for rolls
- 5 cloves minced garlic
- 1 ½ cups ketchup
- 1 cup water
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- Tabasco sauce
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Heat butter in a dutch oven or large skillet with medium-high heat.
- Put the ground beef in the large skillet. Cook until it is brown so the fat is drained
- Cook onions, garlic, and green pepper for a few minutes until they are soft.
- Place chili pepper, ketchup, dry mustard, and brown sugar. Add water and stir all the ingredients.
- Simmer the mixture for 15 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper, and tomato paste to taste. You can add Tabasco or Worcestershire if desired.
- Adjust seasonings after you taste. Add as required.
- Prepare your griddle to spread rolls with butter.
- Place the cooked meat mixture with a spoon over the rolls.
- You can top it with a slice of cheese as desired
