Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix. It would be best if you can choose the extra moist type. But if you can’t find any, any dry cake mix will do.
  • 1 can pie filling. Go with the 20 oz or 21 oz can.
  • 2 tablespoons stick of butter

Instructions

  • Melt the butter and then mix it up with the cake mix.
  • Fold in the pie filling gently. Make sure that the fruits’ big pieces aren’t pulverized.
  • Preheat the oven up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Prepare your baking pan. The 8 x 8 square would be perfect although you can also use the 1.5 qt of baking dish. Spray the inside with the non-stick spray.
  • Pour the batter into the pan. Smooth it out so it becomes even across the pan entirely.
  • Bake it for around 35 minutes. Or do it until the middle area isn’t jiggly anymore. It should be firm. You can perform a toothpick test. If you don’t see any dough sticking, turn off the oven and remove the pan from the oven
  • Let it cool for around 15 minutes. Afterwards, you can slice it and then serve.

Extra Tips
Cooking spray may not be mandatory, but it is great for easy cleanup. Plus, it is also helpful with the serving.
You can serve the cake as it is, but if you want to have a tastier twist, add vanilla ice cream on top of it. A scoop should be enough; you don’t want to go overboard with the ice cream.
For another topping alternative, you can add chopped pecans. Just sprinkle them so you can have the extra crunchy texture.
Some alternative options use eggs rather than butter slices. Again, you are free to do experiments with this recipe cake mix and pie filling.
